    EMPLOYMENT AT TAYLORS

Hello all.  We need help during the summer.  We need people to watch the office from noon until close on Saturday and all day on Sunday.  We could use two people on Sunday, one from around 8:00 until noon who would also mow the greens and another who would manage the course until closing which varies because of the length of the days.  We also need help working out on the course for around three hours a day and folks to manage the course during the week from around 6:00 until close in the evenings.  Work out on the course includes mowing, clearing, weeding and other turf work.  It also includes equipment care and maintenance.  The above hours could be modified if employees can agree to modified schedules.  We pay a decent hourly rate and all employees get free use of the golf course.  Anyone interested can contact Chris Taylor through the office.

    WHAT A SEASON

What a golf season!?!? 2018 was good and crazy!
Our bridge project provided some highs and lows with 3 holes out of play for 6 months. We have a beautiful bridge to cross thanks to Denny, our amazing bridge builder!
We had some mowing maneuvering to maintain those 3 holes.  That was very time consuming and treacherous while driving mowers down the highway to Bayles Road and back.
Unfortunately, we lost a lot of grass on those greens and weeds crept in.  We have been reseeding and inserting plugs and the grass has quickly filled in. (Thank you sister Lori W for setting a record number of plugs!) (See after and before pictures below.)
Anyone remember the I-69 construction barrier that said our road was closed for two months even though the road was actually open to our business.   That was complete insanity.  Can't tell you how many phone calls were made to the "I-69 office" to get that fix, to no avail.

We are grateful for your patience during this 2018 golf season!  Thank you for playing golf at Taylors this year, for hanging out with us on any given day and for being our friend!

    Winter is approaching.
We just completed our 17th year as owners of Taylors' Par 3.  A few things we've learned...
    1.  When the weather starts getting colder take a rest and close the course.  The last day for our golf season is Friday, November 16th.  We pull the pins, tee markers and put the course to bed.  Come join a small group of regulars that play the last round together while we say goodnight to each tee and green.  We start the play and course closing around 4:00 p.m.   The course reopens in March when weather permits.
    2.  Because grass needs growing time to heal from damage of play we honor all the work that has happened over a season to let that grass rest.  Sound crazy?  Not when you've worked 9 months, 7 days a week to have it look so beautiful!   Grass is damaged when anyone walks on it when it is frozen or has frost on it.  That's why golf courses delay start times during the Fall and Spring.  Frozen blades of grass break off and will heal but not until they have time to grow.  Eventually anything damaged will grow back when it is growing season.  So until we close for the season be aware of local frost and freeze warnings.
    3.  Vince's law practice still operates in the clubhouse all year.  During the winter months we are here Monday-Friday, 9-5.  There might be a week off here or there for a vacation.    If you need an attorney call the office (812) 330-8611 and set up an appointment!
    4.  Our law office Public Service Announcement for you is GET A WILL!  We'll be blunt, if you die without a will your family will be harmed immeasurably.  No one should be expected to fix your mess.  While we are on that, no it isn't tempting fate.  You won't die because you had a will prepared.  Finally, yes, the law office prepares wills!

    A NEW YEAR BEGINS

March 1st is almost here.  We open as soon as temps reach the 50's and the weather is otherwise decent.  We are going to have new promotions this year and a new scramble format.  We also plan on sending out course updates by e-mail so when you come in give us your e-mail address which will qualify you for specials and giveaways.  We are always open to new ideas so don't hesitate to suggest anything.  We can't wait to see our regulars and meet new friends.  Vince and Chris

    SCRAMBLE ANYONE?

Our Thursday night scramble begins a week from today and continues every Thursday, weather permitting, until the end of September.  There are new winners every week and you can come when you are free.  We have two person teams who each hit every shot and pick out the best shot of the two for their next shot.  Half the pot goes to the team with the natural low score and half goes to the team with the handicapped low score.  The golf costs $9.00, $5.00 is put in the pot for the two winning teams, and $1:00 is put in a closest to the pin pot.  Golf carts are extra.  Please join us for a great time.  We start at 6:00 so it is best to arrive early enough to get signed in and warmed up.  Cheers.  Chris and Vince

    SPRING?

What can we say?  The course is beautiful but the weather is awful.  We have planted new grass and treated the greens and mowed everything more than once but who would even know it with this weather.  Perhaps Saturday is the end of this crap and we can move into spring.  We would love to have you drop by when Mother Nature cooperates.  We will hopefully see you soon.  Chris and Vince

    WE ARE OPEN

Hello everyone.  The golf course officially opened yesterday.  Everything looks great.  The winter was kind to us.  We can't wait to see you.  The return of winter weather could force us to close a day or two but lets hope not.  We wish you a great season.
